what are the boundary conditions of the 1D function specification tool

The tool for 1D function specification method has been created for a thick slab.

One of the boundary conditions that is being asked is h at the surface.

However I assume in such applications q is a function of time and we are interested to find q(t) on the surface.
so h cannot be a constant .So how does one user use this tool?

Secondly the other end of the slab can be at constant temperature or constant heat flux boundary condition and these values and information are not recieved as input in this tool..?

my requirment is a thick slab with constant heat flux at one side and a variable h at the other side surface .Temperature is measured at one or more interior points and surface heat flux as a function of time is to be estimated.
